How long does it take for standard plastic to completely dissolve?

Standard plastic is never completely absorbed in nature. It breaks down into smaller and smaller particles until you can no longer see it with the naked eye. But they still form dangerous chemicals in nature.

How long does it take for biodegradable packaging to dissolve completely?

Studies show that certified packaging generally dissolves completely within 10 weeks in industrial composting. The EN 13432 requires that the material must be 90% biodegradable within a period of 6 months. This means that our products fall within the standard.

How do I see the difference between biodegradable and standard packaging?

Biodegradable packaging has a label that identifies the product as biodegradable e.g. the seedling logo of DINCERTCO or the OK Compost logo of Vincotte.

How can I be sure that the label is only used for biodegradable packaging?

The label is only given if all criteria (as indicated by independent certification bodies such as DINCERTCO and VINCOTTE) are met.

Which standard is important?

EN 13432 is the standard for compostability of packaging. This is a European standard.
